Patrick & Edie played all week together in New Haven.
Patrick and his new friend, Jake.
John, Gretchen, Edie, and Jake. I met Gretchen at Aspen Music Festival back in 2000, where we were next door neighbors.
Visiting Aunt Karen and Uncle Ricky at Dusty J Farm in Kingston, Massachusetts. Aunt Karen is on the left, then my cousins Melissa and Kristin, 2nd cousins Riley and Emily.
68 Duck Hill Road, where my mom grew up. I have many fond memories of visiting my grandparents as a child.
Patrick playing with Max in Dorchester. Our trip was cut short with Rebekah and Max and other friends as we were sick the 2nd week of our trip and quarantined ourselves in a hotel room!
Uncle Tom and Aunt Nancy, with Elizabeth and Ann. We spent our last night in the U.S. at their place before heading off to our cruise ship in NYC.
Our first 2 weeks were spent in New England. We rented a car and had all our luggage in the back. We spent several days in New Haven, Connecticut and enjoyed Gretchen's homemade meals. Patrick loved playing with Edie, who is one year older than him. Gretchen made Keith a yummy pancake breakfast for his birthday and we were able to have a date night.
Next we drove to see my Aunt Karen in Kingston, Massachusetts. She boards horses and has several cats. Patrick loved seeing all the animals and having space to run free! She made a great lasagna dinner with my cousins and their grandma Beverly. Riley spent the night, and he and Patrick had a great time playing with fire trucks. Keith enjoyed meeting them and seeing all of Uncle Ricky's antique cars. He has a collection of about 15 cars, old model T's, roadsters, most in working condition. I enjoyed seeing my cousins and catching up with their family. It had been a very long time since I'd been to Kingston to see them.
We then spent the next few days in Peabody, Massachusetts, because I had an MRI on my wrist. A nasty virus laid us all out for a few days so we had to stay in the hotel longer than planned. We did get to see Lisa, my friend and former work colleague from Bermuda, but we only were able to spend 1 night at Rebekah and Max's house. Patrick loved playing more fire trucks, Lego, and trains with Max.
In my not so great planning, we drove from Boston to New Jersey to have a quick visit with my Uncle Tom and family. Aunt Nancy made us dinner and we had hoped to relax before having to drive into NYC and get ourselves and all our luggage to the cruise ship terminal. What should have taken about 5 hours took over 7 hours and Patrick was miserable from such a long car ride! Fortunately he had slept for about half the journey, but we were stuck in the middle of NYC rush hour traffic on a Friday night. Luckily we made it through without an accident or scratch to the rental car!
So our cruise began on April 25th and took us out of Manhattan to Southampton. I'll post pictures in the next installment of our blog, trying to get caught up after not so great internet service!
