We had friends visiting for 2 nights on their way to Paris, and they had a Go Pro--they captured a great shot of Patrick in front of our house. He loved having them visit and was very upset when they left! They took a mini-baking lesson from Keith, making baguettes, and we showed them the lovely village of Verteuil sur Charente with its chateau and mill where they make their own flour.
I can't believe that Patrick finishes his first year of French school on Tuesday, July 5th. It's been a big transition for him, but I think he has really settled in and feels comfortable with his classmates and teachers. I've signed him up for the "centre de loisirs" for several weeks so that he can continue with his French and being around other kids. He will go 3 full days and 1 half day each week. They have themed weeks(dinosaurs, pirates, etc) so I know he'll enjoy it.
Our electricians finished up all the sockets and light fixtures for the 2 bedrooms and lounge area. Keith painted the ceilings, leaving the wooden beams exposed, rubbed the beams with linseed oil, and is now painting the walls. After the walls are painted, Keith will start on tiling the floors. Once the floors are tiled, the plumber comes back to fit the toilets and sinks. The garden needs some TLC and that is the next thing once the rooms are finished.
My job is to get the interior bits together. All the bedding arrived from the UK yesterday, so the next step is getting the beds and mattresses. I also have end tables to pick up from a friend who repurposes old furniture, she is a mom from Patrick's school. My other big job is the internet and marketing! We've sort of been waiting to take pictures of one room when it is done...which will be soon...
In between all the jobs to get done, we had news that Grandpa Bill had passed. He fought for over 2 years with cancer. We saw him last in February when we went to England for Aunt Sheila's funeral. We will be flying back to pay our respects and help "Nana" (Keith's Mum) where we can. We are sad but also thankful that he is no longer suffering. Luckily Wendy has many friends and "Big Roy" (Sheila's husband) who are close by and helping her already.
So things are plugging along, I am trying my best to make musical connections as well and work on my own website.
